Project Goals

Our primary objective for this project was to create a long standing, weatherproof home in Plymouth, Massachusetts, that combines luxurious living spaces with sustainability and durability. The architects envisioned a modern style home with ocean views, as well as wide open living spaces. A major priority was energy efficiency and sustainablity.

Project Solution

We made use of a full array of Amvic ICF blocks, incorporating them extensively throughout the construction process. This choice was made based on availability at the time and Amvic lived up to their name.

The Amvic forms increased the home’s structural integrity while also enabling the creation of large, open interior spaces which would have otherwise been impractical or more expensive with traditional wood construction.

Radiant heating systems were installed on each floor, guaranteeing year-round comfort as well as long term energy efficiency. The three-story design was finished off with a flat rooftop as a precursor for future recreational use, This top level also provides a beautiful panoramic view of the scenic ocean and beach.

Maximizing the utility of ICF forms, the basement foundation was designed as a liveable space and will be sublet as an apartment. This adds another level of income potential to the property. Furthermore, a sauna and a safe room were seamlessly integrated into the structure, benefiting from the insulating and durability properties of the ICF forms while enhancing the homeowner’s experience.
