About this Project
Original structure from 1800 with damaged foundation and the basement slab due to high underground water table. Needed total renovation from basement to roof. To list some of the original components included, old roofing, windows, missing insulation, unexceptional floor layout rooms separated to small quarters and almost no storage throughout the house. Overall this created great venture for us from past into the world of high performance home.
Our Solution:
Our focus for this project was moisture control, insulation, ventilation and accurate living space. We started this project with underpinning under a strip of footing and on load-bearing walls. Installed under slab moisture barrier and EPS insulation. Followed with French drains and waterproofing throughout, added Egress Window Wells to create very comfortable livable finished basement. We decided on close cell insulation to create R25 value throughout the house. New roofing system, tripled glazed windows and draught proof doors were installed. We completed with Multi-Zone Mini-Split HVAC, Tankless Water Heater and LED lighting for essential comfort and energy efficiency.
